cleanings and preventative services

Schedule routine cleanings every 6 months

We recommend that our patients receive regular routine cleanings in intervals of 6 months. Plaque, which is a colorless sticky substance that forms on the surface of the teeth, and tartar, which is a hard and crusty bacteria laden substance, needs to be removed to prevent decay and gum infections.

Tartar can only be removed professionally. We believe that with a routine dental prophylaxis several dental problems can be detected and prevented. We can help you maintain a healthy mouth and beautiful smile for years to come.

To do a professional prophylaxis, we use a variety of instruments used to remove all plaque, tartar, and food debris from above and just below the gum line. After instrumentation, we will perform a polishing to remove surface stain with a fluoride polishing paste.

Protect your teeth with sealants

A sealant is placed usually the chewing surface of the back teeth. Sealants are thin, clear or white plastic coatings that can be applied in a single visit. The grooves and pits on these chewing surfaces are highly susceptible to decay, especially in children and in teens. A sealant can be a very effective preventive way to prevent future cavities.

We can perform a variety of procedures to improve your smile. These procedures can make subtle changes to major repairs. There are many techniques and options to treat teeth that are discolored, chipped, misshapen or missing. We can reshape your teeth, close spaces, restore worn or short teeth or alter the length of your teeth. Common procedures include bleaching, bonding, caps, crowns, veneers, and reshaping and contouring.

Dr. Callejo now has the latest technology to prep and place your crown the same day with CAD/CAM Technology. In as little as 2 hours, you will walk out the door with your permanent restoration, saving you time away from work or your busy schedule.

After a thorough exam, we can discuss treatment options for a crown depending on your lifestyle and needs.

When a tooth is missing or there is gap in your smile, a bridge can be a good choice for replacing it. Missing a tooth can cause a lot of negative effects aside from being unsightly, but it may make chewing and eating much harder and cause pain to your gums in the affected area. The rest of your teeth will begin to shift, making them uneven and allowing bacteria to start developing.

A bridge can be customized for you to replace the tooth. There are several advantages for having a bridge to replace the missing tooth. A bridge can replacing teeth for biting and chewing, assist in speech, and helps in preventing the teeth from shifting.

A bridge can be fabricated from porcelain, metal, or a combination of both and can be a good-looking, functional solution. We can discuss treatment options with you after we perform a thorough examination.

Porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers are very thin shells of tooth-shaped porcelain that are individually crafted to cover the fronts of teeth. They are very durable and will not stain, making them a very popular solution for those seeking to restore or enhance the beauty of their smile. Veneers can correct severely discolored teeth, unwanted spaces, worn or chipped teeth, slight crowding, and/or teeth that are too small or large.

periodontic diseaseS

Protect your teeth

Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss today. Periodontal disease is an infection of the teeth, gums and the bone that surrounds the individual teeth. There are many warning signs that you may have periodontal disease. Some of the symptoms you may be experiencing may include having persistent bad breath, bleeding of the gums with regular brushing and flossing, swollen or tender gums, or loose teeth.

Diagnosing periodontal disease required a thorough examination using a periodontal probe and x-rays. Periodontal probing will measure the depth of the pocket formed from the top of the gum line down to level the tooth attaches to the bone. This depth reading is known as a periodontal pocket. Readings of any number greater than 3 millimeters and bleeding are signs for active infection. Once we have found periodontal disease, we will talk to you about treatment options to restore the health of your gums.

Treat periodontal disease with Arestin

Arestin® may be used in conjunction with scaling and root planning as an effective way to treat periodontal disease The use of this antibiotics in the periodontal pocket may significantly reduce the depth of the infected pocket and prevent the progression of the disease.

Arestin® contains microspheres (tiny particles) of an antibiotic in powder form. The microspheres are filled with the active ingregient, an antibiotic minocycline . This medication will help fight the periodontal infection in the pocket for at least 21 days. Minocycline is in the tetracycline family, so we will not use it in tetracycline allergic patients, pregnant or nursing, or a child under 8 years old.

Arestin® is an important part of our periodontal therapy that will help us to restore the health of your gums.

Several options for both adults and children

Orthodontics can be used to correct malocclusions, which literally means a “bad bite”. Orthodontics can bring your teeth into proper alignment which can give you a broader, straighter smile. We start the orthodontic evaluation by age 7.

Traditionally, orthodontics did not start until all the permanent teeth have fully erupted. We now can start a first phase that will take advantage of growth to bring teeth into the proper position in the arch.

We can then utilize brackets or Invisalign to align the teeth in the arch. Both children and adults can benefit from the advantages of orthodontics.

Straighten your teeth with Invisalign

Invisalign® is a system that allows us to straighten your teeth without the use of metal brackets and wires of traditional braces. This system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten and reposition teeth. These smooth, comfortable aligners are virtually invisible to those around you.

They are also removable, which makes them easier to clean after eating. Treatment typically takes nine to 15 months to complete orthodontic treatment with Invisalign, during which time several aligners are used. After a thorough exam, we will determine if Invisalign is right for you.

Relieve the pain you're having

Root Canal Therapy is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected.

A root canal is performed when the nerve of the tooth becomes infected or the pulp becomes damaged.

Symptoms of infection include a tooth that is sensitive to hot and cold, pain with biting, throbbing or maybe swollen. Sometimes you may be unaware of the problem because there may be no symptoms at all.

Root canal procedures have the reputation of being painful. Actually, most people report that the procedure itself is no more painful than having a filling placed.

If we determine that you have an infected tooth, we can talk to you about root canal therapy. It is important to treat an infected tooth to prevent the infection from spreading beyond the tooth into you jawbone.

dentures and partials

Quality, affordable dentures for you

You'll never have to worry about spending a fortune when you get complete or partial dentures from us. Our options include conventional and immediate dentures.

Complete Dentures
When all your upper or lower are missing, a full denture is a good treatment option for replacing them. A complete denture can be either "conventional" or "immediate." Made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal, a conventional denture is ready for placement in the mouth about 6 months after the teeth have been removed.

Unlike conventional dentures, immediate dentures are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As a result, the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums shrink over time, especially during the healing period following tooth removal. Seating this denture immediately gives you the appearance that you would want.

A disadvantage of immediate dentures compared with conventional dentures is that they require more adjustments to fit properly during the healing process and generally should only be considered a temporary solution until the dentures can be relined to ensure a tighter fit.

Partial Dentures
When several teeth in your upper and lower arch are missing, a partial denture is a good treatment option for replacing them. A removable partial denture usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which is connected by framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth.

Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from changing position. A precision partial denture is removable and has internal attachments rather than clasps that attach to the adjacent crowns.

This is a more natural-looking appliance. After a thorough exam, we can talk about treatment options for replacing your teeth as well as esthetic concerns. We will try to meet your expectations to give you a beautiful, functional smile.
